R. K. Krahn Construction Co. | Where Experience Counts

R.K. Krahn Construction Co. was formed in 1997 by President Rick Krahn as a continuation of his proprietorship Krahn Construction, which dated back to 1985.  The primary focus of the company is high quality custom home building and remodeling. 

In addition to building new homes and remodeling existing homes, the company has also done light commercial projects including office building construction and tenant improvement work. Rick has also been involved in land development and construction consulting work.

Rick was first involved with construction while employed as a carpenter’s helper for Southern Pacific Railroad as a summer college job. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Oregon, Rick worked for several Willamette Valley construction companies and became a journeyman level carpenter with the Eugene Woodworkers Union.

In 1976 Rick formed a business partnership with several other carpenters and built his first homes as a general contractor in the coastal towns of Cannon Beach and Seaside, Oregon. Rick lived and worked in Bend and Sunriver, Oregon during the early 80s, and built a custom home in Hawaii before returning to the Portland area in 1985.

Upon returning to his hometown of Portland, Rick built a reputation for fine homebuilding, completing many projects, primarily in West Portland neighborhoods and on westside rural acreage. In 1997 Rick did his first homebuilding project in Clark County which was a spectacular estate home on view acreage near Washougal. The successful outcome of this exceptional home brought more custom home building opportunities in east Clark Co. to the company and in 1999 Rick built his own home in rural Washougal. 

 Since 1997 R.K. Krahn Construction Co. has been active in both Oregon and Washington, typically building two to three high-end homes per year in addition to major remodeling projects. Rick has two veteran, multi-skilled carpenters on his payroll who assist him in providing the constant professional supervision that is essential to successful building projects. 20 plus years of experience in the Portland/Vancouver area has enabled Rick to forge relationships with the best subcontractors, artisans and suppliers available.
